Quantum Algorithm Engineer required to help translate quantum algorithms into practical, hardware-ready implementations. You will develop and optimise quantum circuits, build software tools for quantum computing workflows, and collaborate with research and hardware teams to improve the performance and scalability of quantum systems.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimise quantum circuits for execution on target quantum hardware architectures
- Develop software tools and frameworks for quantum circuit compilation, transpilation, optimisation, and deployment
- Profile and benchmark quantum circuit performance to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
- Work closely with research and hardware teams to translate algorithmic concepts into practical implementations
- Build and maintain internal quantum software infrastructure and tooling
- Improve workflows for scalable quantum computing development and experimentation
- Contribute to the advancement of quantum software capabilities through robust, maintainable code
Requirements
- PHD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Strong software engineering skills, particularly in scientific computing environments (Python, C++, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with quantum circuit design and quantum software frameworks such as:
- Qiskit
- PennyLane
- Cirq
- Similar quantum programming platforms
- Understanding of:
- Quantum gates and circuit architectures
- Quantum circuit compilation and optimisation
- Hardware constraints affecting quantum execution
- Ability to write reliable, maintainable, and well-structured software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across research and engineering teams
- Knowledge of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing
- Experience with:
- Noise modelling
- Error mitigation techniques
- Hardware-aware compilation
- Quantum circuit synthesis
- Familiarity with classical high-performance computing (HPC), distributed computing, or quantum simulation
- Contributions to open-source quantum software projects
- Experience working in research-driven or deep-tech environments
