Rust Engineering Manager | Remote - USA | Up to $200,000 base.

We’re partnering with a rapidly scaling technology company building low-latency systems for real-time audio and video applications. Our client is at a pivotal point in their growth and is hiring a Rust Engineering Manager to lead development on performance-critical infrastructure.

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems engineering, signal processing, and technical ownership.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Serve as the in-house Rust expert, leading development of latency-critical features
  • Design and implement real-time AV pipelines using Tokio, gRPC, and GStreamer
  • Set architectural direction and scale systems across a modern cloud stack (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to align engineering execution with business objectives
  • Mentor engineers and elevate Rust capabilities across the org
  • Contribute meaningfully to technical roadmap planning and milestone delivery

What Success Looks Like (First 3–6 Months):
  • Independently deliver high-priority product milestones in Rust
  • Take ownership of low-level AV features and performance optimisation
  • Lead technical decision-making and improve cross-team development velocity
  • Establish yourself as the go-to authority on signal processing and Rust development

What They're Looking For:
  • Experience in backend or systems engineering roles
  • Strong, production-grade experience with Rust and async runtimes (Tokio)
  • Experience with audio/video signal processing - ideally using GStreamer
  • Solid foundation in cloud-native development using Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
  • Experience with gRPC, Git-based workflows, and mentoring teams in fast-moving environments

Bonus Points:
  • Experience in AV streaming or real-time media infrastructure
  • Contributions to open-source Rust projects

The Business:

Our client is a venture-backed, product-led company operating at the edge of real-time computing and advanced media systems. The team is lean, experienced, and shipping fast - with an emphasis on quality, performance, and solving meaningful technical challenges. This is a rare opportunity to own a core technical function within a company that values engineering leadership and deep expertise.
