We are currently supporting an innovative and rapidly growing engineering business in Munich that is looking to hire a Principal Embedded Engineer / Embedded Software Architect to play a key role in shaping the future of their embedded software platform.

This is a critical senior-level hire within the organisation and offers the opportunity to take ownership of software architecture while remaining hands-on with implementation and technical delivery.
The company is experiencing significant growth and is looking for a strong technical leader who can drive architectural decisions, influence engineering direction, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance embedded systems.

The RoleAs a Principal Embedded Engineer / Embedded Software Architect, you will be responsible for leading the software architecture across complex embedded platforms while contributing directly to implementation activities.

You will work closely with engineering teams to define software strategies, establish architectural standards, monitor system design, and ensure successful delivery across the software lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical leadership with hands-on engineering and wants to have a genuine impact on product and platform development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and drive embedded software architecture strategy
  • Lead architectural design and implementation activities
  • Develop and monitor system and static software architecture
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship
  • Support hands-on embedded software development activities
  • Communicate architectural decisions and technical direction across teams
  • Drive delivery and ensure engineering quality standards are maintained
Required Experience
  • Strong commercial experience with Embedded C/C
  • Experience with Python
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Embedded Software Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Technical Leadership or Software Architecture role
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture
  • Proven experience defining and monitoring software architecture
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and delivery-focused mindset
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on technical leadership capacity
