DeepRec.ai have been retained to help scale the engineering team at a newly launched, well-funded AI startup focused on building practical GenAI tools for everyday users. The founding team brings experience from companies like Twitter, Airbnb, and Uber, and the product has already reached thousands of early adopters through a successful closed alpha.
Now entering a key growth phase, the team is hiring a Frontend Engineer to take ownership of the web stack and help shape the next chapter of the product. This role blends frontend technical leadership with a user-focused mindset—ideal for someone who’s excited by fast build cycles, collaborative product thinking, and seeing their work in the hands of real users.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of responsive, high-performance UIs using React and Next.js
- Collaborate with product and design to create polished, accessible user experiences
- Optimize frontend performance and maintain long-term code quality
- Build features in close coordination with backend and data engineering teams
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and testing infrastructure
- Document, debug, and scale the frontend codebase
- Help define frontend best practices and support future team growth
- 4+ years of professional frontend development experience
- Strong proficiency in React and Next.js
- Experience building and scaling consumer-facing web applications
- Solid grasp of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS
- Familiarity with styling frameworks like Tailwind CSS and responsive design
- Confident working with REST APIs and Git-based workflows
- Strong attention to performance, maintainability, and security
- Clear communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Previous experience at early-stage or fast-growing startups
- Worked on high-traffic consumer products (e.g., 100k+ DAUs)
- Exposure to AI/LLM-enabled applications or recommendation systems
- Familiarity with TypeScript, testing libraries (Jest, Cypress), or performance tooling
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
- Comfort working across the stack or collaborating closely with backend teams
- Experience building from scratch or contributing to open-source projects
